Review: Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water
Beauty is Pain.
I got this product from 0.8L around 2 years back as a campaign for $3, forgot about it in my cupboard and just recently started using it again 😅
From the Wishtrend website,
"This is a gentle exfoliator containing 5% Mandelic Acid less irritating compared to other AHA ingredients. Panthenol, Centella Asiatica Extract and Beta-Glucan supply moisture to soothe skin after peeling. Recommended as a gentle, low-irritant exfoliator."
Description on bottle:
This is an exfoliating water formulated with mandelic acid.,which works gently even on sensitive skin. Removing built up dead skin to enhance the effects of following skincare products, it helps out a dull and/ or uneven skin tone, an smoothens rough skin.Even though the product says it’s for all skin types and gentle even on sensitive skin, I remember when I first started using this product, it stung my face for quite a few days when I applied it during my night skincare routine. Because of that, I didn’t look forward to applying it every night, stopped using it oftenly and only applied it every now and then.
Right now, I use it as my 2nd layer of toner above my Medicube Zero Pore pad. I feel like doing so, makes it less stingy on my face ☺️
How to use:
- After cleansing, apply an adequate amount of product to the skin.
- Pat lightly to absorb.
- If more effective exfoliating is desired, saturate a cotton pad with product and use it to wipe the skin.
*Take note that it is advised to apply sunscreen after using Mandelic acid as it heightens risk of UV exposure!*
Would recommend to use at night to play safe!
Ingredients:
Water, Mandelic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Beta-Glucan, Panthenol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Sorbitol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Citrate, Arginine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Natto Gum, Carbomer
- Mandelic acid: contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) made from the extract of bitter almonds. Mandelic Acid has larger molecules than most of its AHA counterparts; therefore, it is less irritating to the skin.
Pros:
- Removes dead skin cells
- Smooths dull, rough skin
- Skin looks radiant after
Cons:
- Feels stingy on my face
- Smells like acid (I know it’s an acid toner but the smell and the stinging turns me off 😭)
- Look at the picture below.

So one day I was doing my skincare at night and I just decided to hold it up against my computer and I was SHOCKED. Do you see those web-like solid particles around the top of the liquid? I’m pretty sure those weren’t there when I first got the product. I’m not sure what they are but the expiry date is next year! I also kept in away from the sun and in a cool temperature so I’m not sure how it appeared. The container opening also makes it impossible for me to remove it so I’m at a loss here. 😞
It's 11/18/2020 at the time of upload
Overall, I would have to give this a 6/10 for the experience.
-2 for not keeping to expiry date
-2 for stinging
Would I get it again? Probably no.
